Guidance The Guidance accompanying an ACOP issued by the HSE provides advice on achieving compliance, or it may give information of a general nature, including explanation of the requirements of the law, more specific technical information or references to further sources of information.
They many also warn the duty holder that, in the opinion of the HSC, they are failing to uphold the law. The HSC may also serve improvement and prohibition notices, withdraw approvals, vary license conditions or exemptions, issue formal cautions and bring a prosecution.
The enforcement role of the HSC involves inspection, complaints investigation, enforcement decisions, issuing of notices and the bringing of prosecutions.
